How important is Web Reputation for job searching? It is nothing new that more and more companies are using social networks as a selection filter during the recruiting phase. Snooping into candidates' lives now seems to be a consolidated practice in HR offices around the world. If we are looking for a job we can therefore choose whether to use social networks in our favor to better communicate who we are and our qualities. But where do you start to build a good Web Reputation? And why is it so important ? Let's start by saying that building a good online reputation is a long and constant job and the topic could certainly be discussed in depth. But here I want to deal with the basics and those small simple measures which, if adopted, help us to tell ourselves better. How can I make the employer choose me? On what basis do selectors judge? Web Reputation: what do "others" watch? To answer these questions it is good to know that whoever has to select us essentially looks at 3 things: how we present ourselves, what we share, how we interact. The way we experience the web speaks about us and by analyzing these three aspects of our being (online) anyone can deduce something about our personality and our attitude .
How do you avoid being rejected? This contribution comes from my Paraguay Phone Number previous experience: in the past I happened to select people for some work projects, so today I try to describe the reasoning I did which led me to choose some people rather than others. How we present ourselves The first thing my eye falls on is the profile photo and in general all the information that appears on the home screen. On Facebook for example, I investigate the " Information " section. To better understand the person and their past, trying to understand where they come from and what experiences they have, I browse through their profile photos and try to investigate their interests. Among the things I would never like to see at this stage there are certainly: profile photos representing landscapes, objects, invented characters, photos of groups, writings, etc. bizarre professions like “I work at Kider as a serial taster of chocolate bars” fake origins such as “Born on Venus”, “Lives on Mars” Anyone who reads this clearly false information will not be able to decipher you and will feel sidetracked , furthermore if from the basics you appear to be joking it will be difficult to take you seriously later on... The photos speak about us: do you want to highlight your qualities? Avoid only publishing photos of yourself with a giant Mojito surrounded by half-naked cubists.
Not that there's anything wrong, of course, but every now and then a photo in which you are well dressed doesn't hurt... My advice : choose a personal profile photo in which your face can be seen clearly and in which you are smiling and possibly with a natural, everyday look. Avoid putting profile photos that portray you as you are not in reality. Try to enter your information correctly and keep it updated: people will perceive your precision and the fact that you care a lot about communicating who you are well. web-reputation-2 What we share What we share and how we do it says a lot about us. What I usually try to understand is what kind of content a person shares and how often they do it. Among the Facebook users I analyzed there were those who focused on photos, those who shared articles and news, and those who preferred content linked to their interests. And then there were those who shared phrases, photos, links of parliamentarians who steal money, criticism, insults, swear words and so on. Those who decide to use their personal profile strategically should think about what type of image they want from themselves and based on this, share content consistent with this idea. An important thing to consider is that those who have a public profile often easily forget that what they say is there for everyone to see, really everyone.
